Topic Brainstorm: Four Stories

Goddesses/Deities: (Link 1)

     For this first storybook topic idea, I have chosen Goddesses/Deities. I have always been extremely interested in Goddesses, and I love the idea of women being held in a place of power. I do not have much previous knowledge of any Goddesses, so I am excited to learn more about these women and the power they had. I think I would like to tell stories of women who were being oppressed and looked down on by men, who then became goddesses and proved that women are just as strong as men. 

The Moon: (Link 2)

     I have chosen the moon as another one of my story topic ideas because I love the idea of a planet being able to have power over people. I have always loved the stories of mermaids being called to the moon and how their powers came from the moon. I do not know of any real stories that involve the moon, so I am excited to learn more about them and learn their history. I think for my stories I will tell about how the moon has special powers that can attach themselves to a human and then that same human will have special secret powers. 

Heroins of Myth and Legend: (Link 3)

     I have chosen the Heroins of Myth and Legend as a topic for my brainstorm for similar reasons as to why I chose Goddesses/Deities. I love the idea of women being in charge and holding a special power that is respected by men. I do not know much about this topic, but I am interested to learn about these women and the stories they have to tell. For my own story, I would write about a woman who has grown up being seen as nothing more than a housewife, and one day she sets off on this amazing adventure to save herself and the people she loves.

Mermaids: (Link 4)

     I chose the topic of mermaids because they have always been my favorite mythological creature. I would pretend to be one when I was a kid and I would pretend that my mermaid powers came from the full moon. I do not have much knowledge of mermaids, but I have heard stories of sirens and things in that sense. I am interested to learn more about these creatures and to read the other stories that have been written. For my story, I would write about a girl who gains mermaid powers from being in water under a full moon. She is a human on land and then becomes a mermaid after coming in contact with water. She would also have special powers that allow her to manipulate water however she chooses.
