Reading Notes: Homer's Odyssey, Part A
For this weeks reading assignment, I have decided to do Homer's Odyssey, translated into English by Tony Kline. I have read this story before, but it was many years ago for a high school English class. However, I do remember really enjoying the way the story was told. For instance, I really liked how it was broken up into several different parts, and it seemed like multiple different stories. Having it feel like it was more than one story really made it easy to keep reading. Another reason why I liked it so much was because I had never read a story like it before. I think my favorite section in the entire story was the one with the cyclops. It was such an interesting section of the story that I wanted to keep reading. For my future stories, I might try Homer's writing style of dividing up the story into multiple different sections so it doesn't feel like it's taking as long to read. I will also try to incorporate more mythological creatures into the stories because there are not many stories written now a days that have these creatures that used to be found everywhere in literature.
