Reading Options
For this assignment, we were told to go through some reading options and pick at least three that grabbed our attention. We were also told to write about some of the stories we would like to read throughout this semester.
For the stories I am interested in reading this semester, I have picked stories by Hans Christian Andersen. I have chosen three units of his because his stories are the inspiration for almost all of the Disney movies, especially the Disney Princess movies. Since I have grown up watching Disney princess movies and I am now working at Walt Disney World, I figured it would be really interesting to read the original stories that inspired the movies I have grown up loving. I am also extremely interested to learn about how Disney has changed the stories from their original states into what they are now, and why they have done so. I feel like most people tend to forget that the stories that the Walt Disney Company tells are not their own original stories. They are spins of stories from years ago that have been turned into modern day tellings for children, most with happier and less gruesome endings.
