Story Lab: Week 15

For this weeks story lab assignment, I am going to be looking at articles from the website called "Writers Write". This website has a bunch of different articles about all sorts of different topics that have to do with writing. Some of them have tips and tricks, where as others just talk about being a writer.
The first article I chose is titled "Cheat Sheets for Writing Body Language", written by Amanda Patterson. This article gives many tips and tricks about how to write out a characters body language in your stories. This can come in handy when you are trying to write a story and have no idea how to convey a characters emotions other than through dialog. I think this article is definitely an important one to bookmark for future writings.
The next article I chose is titled "Show! Don't Tell. Avoid These 10 Verbs That Make You Tell". This article is about how to avoid certain verbs that just tell the reader what is going on. Instead, it gives you options on how to give a visual representation of what is happening in the story. Changing up these verbs can make the story seem much more lifelike while also portraying the characters emotions a lot better.
The final article I chose to look at is titled "The 5 Senses- How Readers Remember Stories". This article is about how to incorporate the 5 human senses into storytelling. Doing this can make the story feel much more immersive and give the reader a new way to interpret the story. This can be done by describing the scents found in a field of flowers, or by the taste of a desert. Any way that you incorporate these senses in your story is sure to make it that much more interesting.
