Reading Notes: Italian Popular Tales, Part A

For this week's reading assignment, I have chosen to look at stories from "Italian Popular Tales", written by Thomas Crane (link above). His stories focus more on the classic fairy tales that Disney has taken and made into different movies.
For this first story, I will be focusing on "Water and Salt". This story is about a king and his three daughters. The king wanted to see which one of his daughters loved him the most, so he made them do different tasks to show their love for him. One of the sisters had a wedding planned and met a witch, who said that she must kill her before the wedding. She ended up doing so and the father hugged his daughter after the wedding and all was well.
The second story I chose was titled "Zelinda and the Monster". This story is about a poor man who had three daughters. The father was set to go on a journey and asked his daughters what they wanted from him when he returns. They each told him what item they wanted, and he set off on his journey. On his journey, he was faced with multiple different obstacles, and in the end he was able to make it home with a wife.
Overall, these stories all seemed pretty similar in the fact that they had to do with a father and his three daughters and how they all had to bring something or do something for each other. I think for my future writings I will try to add some more detail to my stories and make them a little more interesting.
