Reading Notes: Alice in Wonderland, Part A

For this weeks reading assignment, I have chosen to use the story "Alice in Wonderland", written by Lewis Carroll in 1865 (link above). Seeing as how this is a very popular story and how Disney has taken it and turned it into three different movies, I am already pretty familiar with the story and its characters. For this post, I will be focusing on the reading A section.
In the beginning of the story, and young girl named Alice finds a rabbit hole and falls down it. She is obviously frightened and does not know how to get back up. She then has to go through many different obstacles in order to get out. Once she does manage to get outside, she finds herself in a fantasy land called Wonderland. The creatures in this land are not like the ones where Alice is from, and they can talk. As Alice is making her way around, she meets a caterpillar that begins to speak to her. He tells her where she is and where she needs to go. He is able to give her advice and help Alice around this new world. However, Alice does manage to get herself in some sticky situations, and many of the creatures, including a pigeon, do not believe that she is a human. Later on, Alice meets two footmen who are frogs. They hand her a letter from the queen, and Alice finds that it is an invitation for the Duchess to go play a game of croquet. Alice continued to make her way around Wonderland, meeting more and more creatures as she went. The next creature she met was a cat with a huge smile named Cheshire. Alice attempted to get directions from the cat, but she was met with some difficulty. After speaking with the cat, she comes across the March Hare, and off they go to see the Hatter!
Overall, I really enjoy this story. I have always loved the Disney version of "Alice in Wonderland", so it is very fun to read the original story and see the differences between the two. I do think that the sections tend to feel a bit long, but other than that, I really like it!
